Montenegro attracts more and more tourists from the Baltic States

In recent years, Montenegro has been steadily increasing its presence in the Baltic tourism market. At the Balttour 2025 exhibition, which took place in early February in Riga, Latvia, the country presented its attractive tourism offers, arousing great interest among tourism industry specialists and potential travelers.

National Tourism Organization of Montenegro ( NTO Montenegro ) led by Dr. Misko Radenović actively participated in the event. Important meetings were held with key representatives of the tourism business from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, aimed at strengthening cooperation and developing tourism flows from this region.

According to statistics, in 2024, Montenegro was visited by more than 34 thousand tourists from the Baltic countries, who spent over 200 thousand overnight stays in the country. This confirms the growing interest and trust of tourists from these countries in Montenegro as a holiday destination.

Montenegro offers a variety of holiday options that are particularly attractive to residents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Here are the main reasons why this country is gaining popularity:

  • Picturesque beaches with crystal clear water and warm climate.
  • Numerous natural parks and mountain routes for active recreation.
  • Historical towns and unique architecture, including the old town of Kotor.
  • Developed tourist infrastructure and variety of accommodation.
  • More affordable prices compared to other popular Mediterranean resorts.
  • Hospitality of local residents and high level of service.

Dr. Radenovic notes that the potential for growth in tourist flow is significant, given the interest in a variety of types of recreation, from beach tourism to ecotourism and cultural travel.

List of Montenegro’s advantages for Baltic tourists:

  • Convenient geographical location and ease of flights.
  • A wide range of active recreation options – trekking, kayaking, cycling.
  • Mild climate and long season from May to October.
  • A variety of cuisine with an emphasis on local produce.
  • Possibility of visiting neighboring Balkan countries in one trip.
  • Security and stability in the region.

Prospects for the Development of Tourism from the Baltics in Montenegro

NTO Montenegro plans to continue active work to attract tourists from the Baltic countries, offering new programs and improving the quality of service. The plans include expanding direct flights and creating joint marketing campaigns that will help strengthen Montenegro’s position in this region.
