Distance and travel routes from Fujairah to Sharjah, UAE

Fujairah is the most remote emirate in the UAE. Therefore, it is preferred by tourists for a quiet, family vacation at sea. However, in 2-3 days the beach and the warm waters of the Gulf of Oman can get bored and then you want to make a trip to other emirates. The closest one is Sharjah. For a trip, you need to know the distance of Fujairah Sharjah, ways to get to this region of the United Arab Emirates.

About Fujairah location

The location on the map of the UAE is unique in its own way. It is located in the easternmost part, while it is the only emirate washed not by the Persian, but by the Gulf of Oman of the Indian Sea. Most of it is occupied by relatively low mountains. Through them pass the main automobile routes. But there is also an alternative direction – the highway along the coast. It is used during excursions or for trips to coastal resort towns or villages.

Information about the distance between Sharjah and Fujairah in numbers:

  • In a straight line – 99 km or 66 miles. The road route will be 110 km or 68 miles.
  • Travel time by bus is 1 hour. By car – 40 min.
  • There is only one bus transit route between the emirates – El Fujairah-Dubai.
  • For a quick trip, it is recommended to choose routes passing through the mountain range.

The need to get from Fujairah to Sharjah may arise in the case of buying an air ticket with a departure from the airport of this emirate, for an excursion or shopping. This service can be provided by tour companies in the UAE. If the trip is planned independently, you can choose a taxi, bus or rent a car.

How to get there by bus

Boarding the bus is carried out at the central bus station Fujairah Station. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the station ticket office. The fare to Sharjah is from 25 dirhams. There is only one bus route – E700. The frequency of departure is 1.5-21 hours. The exact timetable is in the building of the bus station or on its official website. You can get to the bus station by taxi.

Consider the most common option on how to get from Fujairah to Sharjah Airport:

  • Buy a ticket at the Fujairah bus station to the Dubai Union Square stop.
  • From this station, walk 189 meters to the Union metro station.
  • On it, take the “red” line and drive to Rashidiya.
  • Bus number 11 to the airport departs from it.

If you are planning shopping or just walking around Sharjah, you can take a ticket to the Sharjah Station stop. This is a relatively small town; a taxi ride through its territory will take a maximum of 20 minutes. given the distance between Fujairah and Sharjah, the total travel time to the mall or local attractions will be no more than 2 hours.

Routes by car, taxi

Traveling by car will take less time. It is recommended to choose a route passing through the mountains. This may be the highway E84, E66 and E11. Before the trip, you need to fill up a full tank, along the way you can stop for a rest at roadside eateries. But the prices in them are more expensive than in city shops or shopping centers.

Important: if you are traveling with children, according to the laws of the emirate, each of them must sit in a special child seat. Violation will result in a fine, you will not be able to continue the trip. The price of a taxi ride is from 250 dirhams. But you need to follow the chosen route.
