The region of Gyula (ven. Gyula) and Bekescsab are the driest and sunniest region of Southern Hungary. There are many thermal springs rising to the surface from the depths of the earth. The Keresh River flows nearby.

The resort is located in the southeastern part of the country, right on the border with Romania. Gyula in Hungary is one of the oldest historical spa towns. Museum of Trade and Tourism

The permanent exhibition was opened in May 2016 in the building of the college and vocational school KSZ Harruckern Janos in Gyula. The official name of the museum shop is Süvegcukorhoz (Sugarloaf lane). The idea of creating such a museum appeared in 1983. The initiator of this project is Mr. György Ábrahám, former director of a small food industry enterprise.

Cathedral of Saint Nicholas

The Church of St. Nicholas in Gyula is one of the monuments that is part of the cultural heritage of the city. The building played a significant role for the Nicoreşti family. In 1721, the first Romanian Orthodox Church was built from wood. The construction of this church lasted for 10 years, completed in 1812. The tower was built much later, only in 1854.

The church has a length of 33 meters and a width of 14 meters, the height of the roof construction is 39 meters. Together with the high cross, the height is 42 m. The iconostasis of the church is considered a masterpiece of art. Sacred paintings created by Teodorovich Arsa-x and icons are decorated with wooden sculptures in the form of roses decorated with gilding. At the entrance you can see a 3 meters high arch, which was erected in 1869 in memory of the believer Bogdan Lazar. The interior of the church was reconstructed in 1928 by the artist Bela Predmerszky. The architecture of the church is late baroque in classical style.

Holy Trinity Chapel

The inhabitants of Gyula who survived the plague in 1738 promised to build a chapel. It was erected in 1741 and expanded in 1752. In 1772-1795 its surroundings were used as a cemetery. The current final form of the chapel was completed 1815-1817. The dome is complemented by classical baroque elements.

When the tower was built, there was a place for the choir, then they bought an organ and a bell for the tower. The chapel is 21 m long, 7 meters wide and 5 m high. The height of the tower is 20 m. The main painting altar representing the Holy Trinity was carried out in 1839 in the Baroque style. The statue depicting the Virgin Mary is placed in a glass cabinet. In 1930, a fire destroyed the roof, which was replaced with shingles.

National cuisine of Hungary

World famous products, winners of numerous awards – Gyulai sausage, traditionally spicy Csabai sausage and local pálinka. All products are protected from counterfeiting, they are made only in this region of Hungary – Gyula. Visitors can taste these delicacies during tasting tours at the Sausage Museum, local pálinka distilleries.
