What do you know about the flag of the United Arab Emirates

The flag is considered a symbol of nationalism, independence and sovereignty in all places and at all times. It is closely related to the national anthem, as it requires the full respect of all citizens, regardless of social status, education, financial situation. The flag represents everything without exception.

Symbolism

The flag of the UAE should symbolize peace, security and happiness, as seen in all national, religious, official and public events related to the political, economic, social and sports fields – whether in the UAE or abroad.

The flag of the UAE is pan-Arab, reflects the ambitions, hopes of citizens, expatriates living on earth, especially students, who daily greet the banner in relation to the role of the state in creating generations of people who have achieved success, creativity. The unity of many nationalities is the main feature of the country.

History of creation

The design was developed by Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Maena after he read an advertisement announcing a competition to design the UAE flag sponsored by Al Diwan Al Amiri Abu Dhabi. The competition was published in the Al Ittihad newspaper in Abu Dhabi two months before the announcement of the creation of the UAE. Approximately 1030 samples took part, and only 6 of them were selected from the list from which the modern symbol of the state was ultimately chosen.

Meaning of colors

The designer was inspired by verses from the poem Safi -uddin Al -Khali, describing our actions as white, plains as green, battles as dark, swords as red. But he did not forget to fulfill the main condition – the recognition of the symbol of the country.

  • The length is twice the width.
  • The cloth consists of four colors – red, green, white and black.
  • Each color encloses a rectangular shape and together forms an “E”-like shape. The vertical part of the “E” is red, the top horizontal is green, the middle horizontal is white, and the bottom horizontal is black.
