Self-preparation for travel is a complex and painstaking process. You need to take care of a set of things, medicines, creams and oils for the beach. The set depends on the duration of the vacation, accommodation. Therefore, you need to carefully think about what to take with you to Montenegro in summer or winter.

Mandatory things
First you need to make a checklist. Its content depends on the number of travelers, the resort and the excursion program. To take with you to Montenegro you need a spare set of things, money (Euro) a minimum set of medicines. You can check the possibility of transporting the latter on the official website of the Montenegrin border service. The set of products is minimal – spices, sweets. Alcohol is allowed, but in limited quantities.

Summer vacation preparation
The weather on the Adriatic coast is stable in summer – the air temperature is 25-30 degrees, the water is up to 20. To relax on the beaches of Montenegro, they take two sets of swimsuits and swimming trunks, rent umbrellas and sun loungers on the spot. For walks in city resorts, light suits are needed – shorts, trousers, summer dresses. Shoes are open, there is little sand in the country. For children, hats, a remedy for sunburn and wounds are required. Each tourist decides for himself what to take with him to Montenegro, but this is a must-have set.
In summer, the resort may need:
- sunglasses;
- thermoses for storing water and food;
- if you need to travel by public transport, small euro bills;

If a trip to Montenegro is planned by train or bus, a Transit Schengen visa is issued. When entering the country by car, an environmental tax is paid.
Montenegro in autumn
The tourist season in Chernogorsk continues until mid-October. At the end of September, it becomes cool at night; take warm clothes with you – sweaters, autumn jackets, shoes. At the same time, it may start to rain, an umbrella is added to the luggage. In the second half of autumn – warm hats, jeans.
The following things will be required:
- several towels;
- cold remedy;
- a map of Budva with attractions for planning an excursion;
- a minimum set of utensils for cooking.
The latter is relevant for those vacationers who are accommodated in villas or apartments. In these rooms there should be a small hob, an electric kettle, a set of forks, spoons.
What to take in winter
The choice of what to take to Montenegro in winter depends on the resort – the Adriatic coast or the continental part of the country. Winter recreation is skiing, walking through snow-capped mountains, an excursion program. Tourists go to the coast to restore health. This can be done in the sanatoriums of Herceg Novi. It often rains from November to February in Budva and Bar.
In winter, they take with them to Montenegro:
- warm clothes, shoes;
- skiing equipment, lubricant;
- umbrellas, raincoats, jackets for relaxing on the coast;
- medicine for ARI.
There is no centralized heating in the country; heated floors are installed in the houses. Therefore, it can be cool at night, you can ask the hosts for an extra blanket.
Things for the beach and excursions
The beaches in the resorts are pebbly, sandy are rare. Therefore, for convenience, beach slippers are needed, especially for children. If you do not want to rent an umbrella and a deck chair, you will need a thick towel or air mattress. Excursions in continental Montenegro take sweaters, hats. Clothing set depends on the location of the holiday.
What to take with you to the Montenegrin beach:
- food is bought in the city center, where it is cheaper;
- from drinks – refreshing, warm tea with lemon in a thermos;
- Sunglasses;
- suntan cream.
Do not take perishable products with you, refrigerators in rooms and apartments are small. Phrasebooks are not needed in the country, locals understand Russian and English.
